BELGAUM: For the first time in Belgaum, General Thimmaiah National Academy of Adventures will be starting adventure training at Sogulu Village of Bailhongal Taluk.
After overwhelming response during Kittur Utsav, General Thimmaiah National Academy of Adventure is all set to start its training centre in Sogulu village. During the three-day adventure sports organised by General Thimmaiah National Academy at Kittur Lake in Kittur Taluk, more than 1000 people attended the sport.
The training will be given on trucking, survival skills, rafting, rafling, nature study, mountain biking and navigation skills. The academy will be conducting courses like two-day awareness camp course, five-day basic orientation course, basic course for ten days and advance course for 21 days.
Businessperson Sunil K Nimbal who is in adventure sports for the past nearly seven years was the most delighted man. "In Belgaum it was very much need of the hour, though there are few adventure club, they were operating only in particular season, the academy which is proposed to set up training at Sogulu is an welcome move.
People are very much interested in learning adventure sport skills but they did not have proper platform, with this academy they can dream of learning more adventure sportskills. Adventure sports will improve youngster's personality; they can get away from scare. It will also be great to society" added Sunil.
"During Kittur Utsav for the first time, adventure sports like rafting, kayaking, jet skis and speedboat were introduced. It was overwhelming response from the public and people requested us to extend it further. So keeping all this in mind, we decided to start the first adventure-training centre at Sogulu village, which is nearly 50km from Belgaum city. Though it is bit far from Belgaum city, Sogulu is the ideal place for conducting adventure sports," added Rajendra Hasabavi of General Thimmaiah National Academy of Adventure. This will also first of its kind in North Karnataka, said Rajendra.
